Walking down Main Street, millions of faces pass me every day
the crowds of individuals, all different, each going their own way
Without warning someone catches my eye, seeming familiar, maybe from my past
I stare longingly through the crowd searching for a face, the image my mind has cast
Scanning endlessly, following the contours of each individual’s profile
hoping something will spark in my mind and bring about that persons lost file
A rush of emotions that should be flowing through my body, do not exist
as if this person has no meaning to me, like a lost spirit in the mist
At first I seem surprised thinking there is more, but nothing comes
as time goes by thinking about this individual. Maybe old chums?
When I reach my destination the memory returns in my amazement
this person is a lost love, feelings faded over time even with my investment
A new day is upon me what tomorrow holds is unsure
I throw myself upon the future, with its decisions I shall concur
